Park Activities Not Affected by Pavilion Project Delay

Frame work for new pavilion started going up this week.

Work to put up the new pavilion at Woodland Park has begun later than originally planned but construction is said to not affect the regularly scheduled summer programs currently underway.

The entire pavilion has been fenced off while the new pavilion is assembled. Work began Tuesday and by mid-day Wednesday the framework for the new structure was almost complete.

Mike Kronyak, borough administrator, said Wednesday it is not known exactly when the work will be done as the pavilion was delivered later than originally promised. It was hoped it would be all completed by July 3, before the childrens July 4th parade but the annual event will go on as planned whether or not the pavilion site is still under construction.

The new pavilion is being fitted around the old fireplace which was saved from demolition when the borough had the old pavilion, which was decades old, removed. The fireplace was a donation from the Lions Club and borough officials intend to keep it intact.

Once the new structure is in place the next steps will include getting the utility work done explained Kronyak. Electricity will be installed at the site and the plumbing will be fixed for the sink area.
